Blanket ISD on Monday night hired three new coaches to lead its high school athletic program. Casey Mund is coming on board as head football coach and athletic director, his wife Menda Mund will serve as girls basketball coach and girls athletic coordinator, and Adrian Greenfield is the new boys basketball coach.
Blanket ISD David Whisenhunt cited the youth and enthusiasm of the new coaches among their biggest selling points, and added additional coaches may still be added before the start of the 2020-21 school year.
Casey Mund formerly served as head coach at Eden and Veribest, guiding both programs to the playoffs. After leaving the coaching ranks to work in the oilfields, Mund resurfaced at Olfen last year where he spent time as a coach and an ag teacher.
Menda Mund served as an assistant for eight years in Wall, including seven under current Canyon head coach Tate Lombard, who guided the Lady Hawks to the state tournament three times during his tenure. Mund will be making her debut as a head coach.
Greenfield, whose previous coaching stops include Rising Star, guided Veribest two rounds deep into the playoffs this past season. The Falcons finished with a 15-5 record. 10-2 in district, to finish first in the 12-A standings.
