SANTA ANNA – Faryn Crossley is the Santa Anna School Class of 2021 valedictorian while Madison Fields earned the honor of salutatorian.
Santa Anna High School graduation will take place at 8 p.m. Friday, May 21.
Crossley, the daughter of Clay Crossley and Amanda Lishka, said of receiving the news she was named valedictorian, “It means the world to me to be valedictorian of my class. It has been a goal of mine for as long as I can remember, and it is a big accomplishment to me. It was both a surprise and expected. I had a good feeling all the hard work would eventually pay off.”
Crossley is headed to Tarleton to study Kinesiology.
“I chose Kinesiology to pursue my love for sports and my passion to help others,” Crossley said.
Looking 10 years into the future, Crossley said, “I see myself helping a basketball team as their athletic trainer and providing a financial stable home for my son, Braxton.”
During her high school years, Crossley took part in basketball, cheer, cross country, track, softball, UIL, FFA, and National Honor Society.
In the classroom, Crossley’s favorite subjects were English and Geometry and her favorite teachers were Mrs. McCrary and Mrs. Jones.
Fields said of receiving the salutatorian accolade, “It means the world to me being the salutatorian of my class. I feel accomplished and that my hard work over the past four years has finally paid off. I was definitely in shock when I found out I was the salutatorian of my class.”
Fields, the son of Sonia Fields and the late Mark Fields, is bound for TSTC in Brownwood to pursue a degree in Business Management Technology.
“I chose this career choice because it opens up such a wide variety of options,” Fields said.
Of her 10-year goals, Fields said, “I see myself owning my own house, hopefully living somewhere else other than Santa Anna, building my family and having a good job.”
Fields took part in track for 2 years, softball for 3 years, girls basketball as manager for 3 years, football manager for 1 year, one-act play 2 years, class officer for 4 years, and band for 4 years.
In the classroom, Fields’ favorite subject was, “definitely math and my favorite teacher has always been Mrs. Guthrie, the History/English teacher.”
