James Calvin Nance, age 98, of May passed away Monday, May 10, at his home.
He was born October 5, 1922 in Graham, Texas, the son George and Jessie Nance. Following his graduation, he served in the U. S. Army as a Sergeant. He was married to Rita Blassinger on July 17, 1945 in Louisville, Kentucky. He worked as a rural postal carrier for over 30 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Queen of Peace Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus where he received his 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th degree and was a charter member.
He is survived by his two grandsons Robert Scott Nance and wife Wendy of Brownwood and Joseph Gregory Nance and wife Stephanie of Arlington, his daughter in law, Roxie Nance of Brownwood and two great grandchildren, Jago and Lola Nance.
He was preceded in death by his wife Rita, his parents, George and Jessie Nance, son, Robert Joseph Nance, three brothers, Grady, Louie, and Robert Nance, two sisters, Marie Bailey and Teressa Nance.
Rosary services will be held at 7 pm on Tuesday, May 11 in the Davis-Morris Chapel with funeral mass celebrated on Wednesday, May 12 at 10 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
