“This is a special day,” said Lions assistant head coach David Jones. “When a college comes to recruit you there’s a lot of research they put into these guys. Athletes really come a dime a dozen, there’s a million of athletes across the country, so in my mind the things colleges look for are the intangibles. They looked at these guys and looked at their integrity, their maturity, their determination, their hard work, and their academics – which is the big thing. Use football as a tool, but don’t forget you’re there to get an education and become a great person. When a college brings you into their fold, it’s a tribute to you all and your families because they raised you the right way.”
Robinson said of his decision to attend ACU, “The location is really close but far enough to where it’s not too close. They are moving to the WAC conference and I think there’s going to be some good competition there. The campus itself is beautiful and I love the coaching staff.”
Other schools Robinson received interest from included Yale, Hardin-Simmons, Grove City, Ouachita Baptist and Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Robinson earned honorable mention all-district honors as a senior as he was part of a Lions offensive line that paved the way for 26 points and 292 yards per outing during the 2020 campaign. Robinson also advanced to state in powerlifting earlier this spring.
“Brad is one of the hardest working kids I’ve had the opportunity to coach in my career,” said Lions offensive line coach Dex Dennard. “That’s going to take him places beyond ACU, that work ethic’s going to do him very, very well. That’s something you can preach and preach but it’s really hard to teach, and he has it. His commitment and dedication to the Brownwood Lions has been extreme, that’s why he was a captain for us and someone we could always count on and the players could always look to to see how to do the right thing.”
Robinson intends to major in Kiniesology with plans to become a strength and conditioning coach.
