LUBBOCK – Brownwood Lion freshmen Hudson Reagan and Sir Bubba Jones finished 30th and 32nd, respectively, as the Region I-4A boys golf tournament concluded Thursday at Shadow Creek Golf Course.
Reagan followed his Wednesday 81 with a round of 78 Thursday for a 159 total, while Jones posted a 79 Thursday following his opening 81 for a 160 composite score.
Argyle’s Gavin Black won the regional title by 11 strokes with a 130 composite score – 14-under par – as he followed an opening round 67 with a 63 Thursday.
Argyle also claimed the team title with a 577 composite score while Canyon (609) and Monahans (620) also advanced to the UIL Class 4A boys golf state tournament, which will be held May 17-18 at Plum Creek Golf Course in Kyle, just south of Austin.
Moving on as medalists – the top three golfers not on one of the three state qualifying teams – are Fort Stockton’s Alex Williams (141), who finished second overall; Gatesville’s Evan Washburn (144), who was fourth overall; and Seminole’s Cason Johnson (145), who was tied for fifth overall.
