A Brownwood woman who was put on probation for the 2017 theft of 10 Brownwood ISD laptop computers and was arrested in 2020 on an indictment for injury to a disabled person, pled guilty in court Wednesday and was sentenced to 10 years deferred adjudication and 60 days in the Brown County Jail to be served by April 14, 2022.
In October 2019, detectives with the Brownwood Police Department received six reports from Adult Protective Services alleging abuse by Gladys Bryant at a local home care facility. The reports detail separate incidents in which it was reported Bryant physically struck residents of the home.
In November 2018, Bryant pled guilty to theft of property over $2,500 under $30,000 by a public servant – the December 2017 theft of 10 Brownwood ISD laptop computers – and was placed on 10 years deferred adjudication.
Bryant had worked 16 years at the school district’s administrative office as a receptionist and food service assistant. She was terminated after police identified her as the suspect.
