Ray Gutierrez, Jr., passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, in Austin, Texas.

He was born on February 7, 1977, in De Leon, Texas, to Raymond Gutierrez, Sr. and Esmeralda (Barron) Gutierrez. On December 13, 1999, he was united in marriage to Jessica Tiemann in Comanche, Texas. Ray was a strong family man, devoted to his wife and children, and absolutely loved ALL of his family. He was a long time employee of Texas Department of Transportation and was a member of Priddy I.S.D. School Board. He was always willing to lend a helping hand in community affairs. He loved all the children of Priddy and they all loved him back. They never called him Mr. Gutierrez, but gave him a nickname of “Ray Ray”. Ray had a constant supply of dollar bills and quarters, which he handed out to the kids at ball games and other activities when the parents said “no more sugar”. In his spare time he loved hunting, fishing, and his true passion, hunting for arrowheads.

He is survived by his wife, Jessica Gutierrez of Priddy; daughter, Alexis Gutierrez of Priddy; son, Hunter Gutierrez of Priddy; parents, Raymond and Esmeralda Gutierrez of Gustine; brothers, Mark Gutierrez and wife Michelle of Priddy, and Luke Gutierrez and wife Kim of Early; sisters, Sylvia Gutierrez of Comanche and Jennifer Solis and husband Mike of Belton; parents-in-law, J. R. and Debbie Tiemann of Priddy; sister-in-law, Mikayla Moreland and husband Kyle of Georgia; brother-in-law, Justin Tiemann and wife Jamie of Priddy; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, whom he loved dearly.

Family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home on Thursday, April 8, 2021, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

Graveside service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, April 9, 2021, at St. John’s Cemetery in Priddy, with Larry Smith officiating. Condolences may be offered on line at www.comanchefh.com

Due to limited parking at the cemetery, you are encouraged to park at Priddy ISD and take the shuttle. Shuttle times will be at 10:15 A.M., 10:30 A.M. and 10:45 A.M.

Everyone is welcome to a meal, time to fellowship with the family, and a time to share your favorite “Ray Ray” story in the Priddy PAC room following the graveside service. Donations will be accepted to begin the Ray Gutierrez Memorial Scholarship.
