Pete Jones, age 72, of Brownwood, died Sunday, March 21, 2021 at Hendrick Medical Center South in Abilene.
The viewing will be from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2021 at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman. A private interment will be at the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.
He was born James Pete Jones on April 19, 1948 in Lich,Germany to James Jones and Christine Hassler-Wisener and came to the United States in 1956 at age 8. Pete grew up in Coleman where he attended Coleman High School with the class of 1968. He joined the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1969. Pete married Janice Faye Bohannon on August 7, 1970, and with this union they had one son, Christopher. He worked as a railroad engineer for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for 33 years. Pete made many friends throughout the years, was a people person and never met a stranger. He was an avid Texas Longhorn fan “Hook-Em” and was proud of his military service. He loved all animals, and his cat “Patches” was never far from his side. He was a loving husband and father and will be missed by all who knew him.
Pete is preceded in death by his parents, James Jones and Christine Wisener, stepfather Richard Wisener, stepmother Fay Jones, and one sister, Patricia Wisener.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Jones of Brownwood; his son, Christopher Jones and wife Nicole of Hutto; and one brother, Robbie Jones.
