GRAHAM – The Brownwood Lions finished fifth as a team and the Lady Lions came in sixth at the Possum Kingdom Relays, hosted by Graham High School at Newton Field Saturday.
The Lions produced 60 points which trailed Brock (166), Graham (113.3), Abilene Wylie (104), and Stephenville (64). The Lady Lions generated 42.5 points which left them behind Midland Christian (133), Stephenville (115.5), Abilene Wylie (114), Brock (70), and Graham (46).
The Lions collected six medals – a pair of silver and four bronze.
Coming in second were Jason Jackson in the 200 meters (23.96) and Zach Bond in the 110-meter hurdles (15.93).
Placing third were Jackson Yoder in the triple jump (39-4), Hunter Day in the 400 meters (53.67), Michael Felts in the 800 meters (2:07.42), and Toby Yeats in the 110-meter hurdles (16.11).
Finishing fourth were Felts in the 1600 meters (4:56.09) and the 4×200 relay (1:34.93).
Fifth-place efforts belonged to Jake Jetton in the 400 meters (56.11), Christian Kinzler in the high jump (5-10), and the 4×100 relay (44.98), while the 4×400 relay (3:46.59) placed sixth.
The Lady Lions earned four medals – two silver and two bronze.
Runner-up efforts were turned in by Becca Church in the 100-meter hurdles (16.37) and Naysa Leach in the 3200 meters (13:31.56).
Church also finished third in both the long jump (15-8.25) and the triple jump (33-9.5).
Kynslee Walker placed fourth in the 400 meters (1:02.86) and fifth in the 800 meters (2:33.9), while other fifth-place performances belonged to Kinley Reeves in the 100 meters (13.76), Talia Clifton in the 100-meter hurdles (17.49), and the 4×400 relay (4:28.51).
Jaylen Savage added a sixth-place effort in the high jump (4-8).
The Lions and Lady Lions will compete at the Stephenville Relays on Thursday in their final action before hosting the District 6-4A meet March 31 and April 1.
