ABILENE – Noah Platzer scored 12:57 into the contest, and the Howard Payne defense recorded a shutout as the Yellow Jackets earned their first victory of the spring soccer season, 1-0 at McMurry Friday in American Southwest Conference action.

The Yellow Jackets (1-5, 1-4) attempted five shots with two on goal – both by Platzer – compared to 15 by McMurry (0-7, 0-5) with five on target. Eduardo Flores recorded five saves for HPU.

Howard Payne is back in action at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Concordia.

McMurry 3, Lady Jackets 0

ABILENE – The Howard Payne Lady Jackets slipped to 0-6 on the season and 0-5 in American Southwest Conference action with a 3-0 loss at McMurry Friday.

McMurry (2-4, 2-2) scored twice in the first half and one in the second. Goals belonged to Kate Holland, Sky Reynolds and Hallie Rutherford.

The Lady Jackets took just two shots – by Jillian Jackson and Alexandria Barnett.

McMurry fired off 21 shots with 12 on goal. HPU’s Delaney Castor registered nine saves.

Howard Payne is back in action at noon Thursday at Concordia.
