On Monday, March 15, at approximately 11 a.m., officer Justin Taylor initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 3800 block of US Hwy 377S.
Contact was made with the driver who identified herself but could not provide a driver’s license. While investigating this stop, a syringe was located inside a purse which was confirmed to contain a small amount of methamphetamine. The driver was arrested at this time. A second purse was located which contained a driver’s license that identified the individual as 44-year-old Ashley Monique Montemayor (Pruett) who confirmed that the DL did, in fact, belong to her and she was lying to the officers about her name due to having warrants for her arrest.
A communications check revealed several warrants: one from Pardon and Parole, one from Brown County for Theft of Property and one from Brownwood Municipal Court for Theft. The warrants were confirmed.
Continuing a search of the vehicle, officers located a black handbag containing a small Ziploc type baggy containing approximately 4 grams of suspected methamphetamine, a baggy containing unknown pills and another syringe containing a similar substance to the previous syringe. Lastly, the handbag contained approximately 80 empty Ziploc baggies, a digital scale and a spoon used to burn and melt methamphetamine.
Pruett was arrested for the warrants and further charged with Delivery of a Controlled Substance PG1, Failure to Identify (Fugitive) and the 3 warrants.

Following recent arrests involving suspected methamphetamine distribution in the community, the Brownwood Police Department Narcotics Division obtained a search and arrest warrant for 34-year-old Eden Shauntel Culpepper of Brownwood. On Monday, March 15, Culpepper was observed driving a vehicle in the area of US Hwy 377S and 15th St. A traffic stop was initiated and Culpepper was arrested for the warrant. At the time of the arrest, Culpepper possessed approximately 26 grams of Methamphetamine along with over $4,400 in US currency.
While speaking with Culpepper, other detectives were securing her residence in the 1900 blockof Ave D. Inside the residence, detectives seized over 6 grams of suspected methamphetamine along with numerous items of drug paraphernalia.
Also arrested at the residence was 31 -year-old Mallorie Basio of Brownwood who had concealed inside her purse less than a gram of methamphetamine.

On Monday, March 15, at approximately 9:20 a.m., officers with the Brownwood Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 1000blk of San Benito regarding a suspicious call. The caller, 68-year-old Floyd Wayne Clark, phoned the department to report that people were inside his residence that he did not know. Clark had previously made this same report at 5:00am this same morning. During this incident, Clark fired his shotgun through the front door.
When officers arrived, the spoke with Clark who believed that several subjects were actively inside the residence. Officers entered the residence and discovered a Ziploc baggy of suspected methamphetamine residue in plain view on a bedroom table. Beside this baggy was an ashtray which had an amount of loose marijuana which appeared to be able to make 2 to 3 marijuana cigarettes. No people were located.
Clark denied smoking methamphetamine but confirmed that he did regularly consume marijuana. Given the discovery of illegal narcotics inside the residence and with Clark’s consent, officers searched the residence further. Inside the living room two additional small containers were located which contained a usable amount of marijuana like the ashtray. Additional, small quantities, of methamphetamine was located inside the residence along with numerous marijuana pipes.
Clark was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance PG1 (under 1 gram) and Possession of Marijuana (under 2 ounces).
