The following messages were posted on social media from the Brownwood, Early and Bangs ISDs following Monday night’s school board meetings:
BROWNWOOD
At tonight’s School Board meeting, the Board unanimously chose to keep the current mask protocols in place until further notice. I thank those who sent feedback on all sides of the issues. A significant factor was the close contact definition and the low number of quarantines we are currently experiencing. It was discussed how quarantining students or staff would be academically damaging at this point of the year.

EARLY
As you are aware, Governor Abbott rescinded the mask mandate for Texas on March 10. In addition, the Texas Education Agency has provided an option for local school boards to vote to remove the mask mandate from schools.
Tonight, the Early ISD Board of Trustees met to discuss the mask mandate and local health protocols. After much discussion, the Early ISD Board of Trustees voted to make masks optional on all campuses. The changes made are as follows:
- Masks will be optional for all students and employees within Early ISD, this is a freedom of choice.
- Students/employees who test positive for COVID-19 or show symptoms will still be required to quarantine per local guidelines
- All close contact quarantine procedures will be followed.
- More information will be communicated to secondary students tomorrow

BANGS
The Bangs ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to make masks optional for students and teachers effective tomorrow.
