ABILENE – The Howard Payne Yellow Jackets slipped to 0-3 on the season and 0-2 in American Southwest Conference men’s soccer action with a 2-0 loss at Hardin-Simmons Thursday night.
The Yellow Jackets yielded one goal per half – to Francisco Cerrillo 31:51 into the match, and to Nick Tudgay with 30:08 left.
Howard Payne attempted seven shots with four on goal by Homero Pena, Zachary Moreno, Erick Marcia and Junior Saavedra.
Hardin-Simmons fired 17 shots with seven on goal as Eduardo Flores made four saves for the Yellow Jackets.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action at 3:30 p.m. Monday when they host Mary Hardin-Baylor.

ABILENE – The Howard Payne Yellow Jackets tumbled to 0-3 on the season and 0-2 in American Southwest Conference women’s soccer action following a 5-0 loss at Hardin-Simmons Thursday night.
The Lady Jackets surrendered two goals in the first half and three in the second. Scoring for Hardin-Simmons were Elly Green with a pair of goals, along with Madelyn Dowell, Emma Thompson and Chloe Devore.
Howard Payne took two shots – by Mariah Gonzales and Kaegen Sims – with neither on goal.
Hardin-Simmons attempted 27 shots with 18 on goal as Delaney Castor made 13 saves for the Lady Jackets.
The Lady Jackets will be back in action at 1 p.m. Monday when they host Mary Hardin-Baylor.
