In the 12-5 win over Greenwood, Brownwood broke a 1-all tie with six runs in the bottom of the second inning. The Lady Lions tacked on four more in the third and the final run in the bottom of the fifth ahead of the time limit.
The Lady Lions collected seven hits as Annie-Klein Allgood homered, singled and drove in three; Chesney Covey doubled twice and plated four runs; Auzzlyn Benedict tripled and knocked in a pair; Mia Lopez added two hits and scored twice; Dakota Simpson drove in two runs; and Cecilia Rodriguez plated one as well.
In the circle, Allgood worked all five innings and surrendered four earned runs on six hits with one strikeout and two walks.
In the 5-5 tie with Pampa, the Lady Lions scored all their runs in the top of the third inning, while Pampa answered with four in the bottom half and drew even in the bottom of the fifth as the time limit expired.
Brownwood finished with seven hits – a two-run home run by Lopez, triples from Covey and Rodriguez, a double and a single from Allgood, and singles from Benedict and Hailey Snell, who both drove in a run.
Benedict and Allgood combined to yield five runs on eight hits with five strikeouts and three walks. The Brownwood defense committed a pair of errors.
In the 5-2 loss to Lamesa, the Lady Lions led 1-0 after one inning, but yielded four runs in the top of the third.
Brownwood amassed just three hits – two by Mackenzie Welch, who drove in a run, and one by Allgood. The Lady Lions struck out 11 times.
Allgood handled all the pitching chores and gave up one earned run on six hits with six strikeouts and no walks. The Brownwood defense was charged with four errors.
The Lady Lions (1-2-1) will conclude tournament action Saturday.
