Diane (Guevara) Woolever left for her heavenly home January 22, 2021 after a battle with Covid-19 and other illnesses. Diane was born October 24, 1961 in San Diego, California and raised in Zephyr, Texas. Upon graduation from high school, Diane attended Howard Payne university, graduating May 5, 1990, earning a Bachelor of Science degree. Diane went on to work for the State of Texas, where she was employed by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services. Diane earned many awards during her 27 year career, and after retiring, she continued to display a servant’s heart by working with and for several different civic organizations including the Lake Brownwood Lions Club, American Legion Post 308 Ladies Auxiliary and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3278 Ladies Auxiliary, where she was a lifetime member. She was a strong supporter of Ploukie’s Rescue, a no-kill, non-profit animal rescue in Brown County. Most important to Diane was her daughter, Kera McClung, who still lives in Brown County. Diane spoke of the pride she had for her daughter and always wanted her to be happy.
Diane loved working during bingo sessions at different locations in Brown County and enjoyed playing as well. Diane also enjoyed yoga and teaching classes despite having a busy schedule with other community work she was involved in. Diane’s heart, laugh and smile are just two of the many aspects about Diane her family and friends will miss. It was not uncommon for her to show up somewhere with gifts or lunch. During the holidays, Diane spent many hours looking for special gifts for those she loved to insure they had a great Christmas. Her heart for people was evident in everything she did. Diane was married to Shawn Woolever for more than five years at the time of her passing. They wed June 15, 2015. Diane and Shawn enjoyed traveling together, eating out and raising animals together at their home in Blanket. She loved sitting in her backyard, talking to her dozens of chickens and ducks.
Diane was preceded in death by her father Lawrence Guevara. She is survived by husband Shawn of Blanket, Texas; mother Lorene of Bangs, Texas; and daughter Kera of Bangs, Texas as well as many other family members and friends who will forever miss the woman who was willing to help another, regardless of the cost.
A memorial for Diane will be February 27 at 1 p.m. at Grand Starz, located at 2323 Belle Plain in Brownwood.
