KOXE Meteorologist Randy Turner has provided a forecast for the next wave of wintry weather coming in Tuesday night. He says it’s a little good news and some more bad news.
“Round #2 of winter weather is headed our way Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. The good news is that the high temperature on Tuesday is now forecast to range between 26 and 30. Wind chills will still be in the single digits to teens Tuesday. Now, more bad news. The latest forecast guidance calls for sleet, possibly heavy sleet, to develop in the Brownwood area between sunset and midnight Tuesday night, Feb. 16. This would quickly coat area roads with another layer of ice. Of more concern, it will also coat power lines with ice and strain an already struggling power grid. This round of sleet and ice will be followed by snow off and on Wednesday but once precipitation ends Wednesday afternoon, it’s over. But could there be a little more good news Wednesday? Models suggest that temperatures will once again climb to near 30 on Wednesday in the Brownwood area. Wednesday night lows will be near 20. Thursday highs should be near 32. Friday highs in the 40’s. Saturday highs in the 50’s. Sunday highs in the 60’s. Hang in there. Temps in the middle 70’s by next Tuesday.”
