SAN ANTONIO – The Howard Payne University men’s golf team put together its two best rounds of golf in recent years to post a 592 and finish 6th overall at the Alamo City Classic at The Quarry Golf Club.
The Yellow Jackets shot 291 in the first round and followed that with a 301 on day two at The Quarry Golf Club. HPU was second among all teams in Pars for the tournament with 107.
Kyle Anderson led Howard Payne with a 145 (73-72) to finish T-11th, Lucas Kinkade followed with a 146 (70-77) to place T-17th.
Brady Nelson shot a 150 (72-78) to finish T-26th, Kaleb Brown was just behind him with a 151 (76-75) for 28th, and Jake Angerstein was T-33rd with a 156 (79-77).
The Jackets next tournament on Feb 15th-16th in Austin has been canceled. HPU will play next on March 8-9 in Kerrville, Texas at the Comanche Trace Golf Club, the tournament hosted by Schreiner University.
