Howard Payne fell 25-14, 22-25, 25-16, 25-19 in the opener as ASC West Offensive Player of the Week Mya Ross led the Lady Jackets with eight kills followed by Mitsue Rodriguez with seven, Fabianna Bennett with six, Amaya Marshall with four, Canyon Hughes with three, Chloe Pryor with two, and Kaitlyn Elsten, Delaney Etzler and Riley Brittain with one each.
Elsten and Brittain dished out 13 assists each trailed by Daisy Flores with three and Ross and Marshall with one apiece.
Flores served three aces, Elsten contributed a pair and Bennett and Pryor added one each.
Defensively, Flores logged 24 digs followed by Pryor with 17, Ross with 16, Brittain with 13, Elsten with eight, Hughes with four, Rodriguez with three, and Bennett and Marshall with two each.
Ross and Marshall finished with two blocks each while Hughes and Rodriguez were both credited with one.
UHMB received 12 kills from Corinne Novak, two aces from Adrien Valdez, 21 assists from Alli Pierce, 25 digs from Maddie Gillispie, and four blocks each from Kylie Metcalf and Mattison Doffitt.
HPU tumbled in the second match 25-16, 25-19, 25-12 as Rodriguez recorded eight kills followed by six from Hughes, five from Ross, four from Marshall, two from Bennett and one each from Brittain and Pryor.
Brittain distributed 18 assists trailed by Elsten with three, Hughes with two and Bennett and Elizabeth Benn with one apiece.
Ross and Pryor both served an ace.
Defensively, Benn chalked up 18 digs followed by Ross and Pryor with 13 each, Brittain with seven, Hughes, Rodriguez and Marshall with two apiece, and Elsten, Flores and Etzler with one each.
Canyon, Ross, Rodriguez and Marshall each tallied a block.
Mary Hardin-Baylor was led by Novak, Kayla Janikula and Faith Holzhausen with five kills each, Sam Sommerfeld with four aces, Pierce with 16 assists, Valdez with 18 digs, and Holzhausen with three blocks.
The Lady Jackets slipped to 2-2 on the season and 0-2 in ASC action while UMHB improved to 4-0 and 2-0 in league play.
Howard Payne will be back in action at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16 with another ASC doubleheader against Concordia at the Brownwood Coliseum.
