SPRINGTOWN – The Brownwood Lions notched their second soccer victory of the season Friday, ending a four-game drought with a 1-0 road victory over the Springtown Porcupines.
Brownwood (2-8) logged the game’s only goal as Tony Valenciano found the back of the net with 20 minutes left in the second half.
“We had many more opportunities to score, but defensively we were solid and defended the corners and set pieces well,” said Lions head coach Scott Swanzy. “It was an outstanding effort all the way around and things are coming together.”
The Lions conclude pre-district action at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5 when they host San Angelo Lake View.
