Wayne Stewart, 75, of Brownwood passed away Monday, January 11, 2021. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at the Cross Plains First Methodist Church at 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 16, 2021 officiated by Kevin Morton.
Wayne Stewart was born April 25, 1945 to Cleaton Elton and Wanda Jeanette Stewart in Gonzales county, Texas. He attended high school at Nixon and went on to receive his Masters degree in Education from Southwest Texas State University. Wayne worked as an educator and principal for over 37 years. He loved singing and participated in the church choir and led the choir when needed and sang in the praise band. Wayne served as a Stephen Minister with Cross Plains First Methodist Church engaging in one-on-one ministry to those in need. He loved people and worked at the United Supermarket for over five years after his retirement from education. He enjoyed getting to know people while he sacked their groceries and helped them to their cars.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Bobbie Jo (Sims) Stewart of Brownwood; daughter, Brittany Poulter and husband Nathan of Abilene; son, Randy Stewart of Abilene; step daughter, Stephanie Scevers and husband Mike; brother, James Stewart of Raynes, LA; grandchildren, Kate Tubbs and husband Colby, Austin, Anson and Nolan; step grandchildren, Robert Scevers & Katie and husband Mark Tracker; several nieces, nephews and friends.
Wayne was preceded in death by his first wife, Wanda Stewart and a granddaughter, Parker Poulter.
