“The kids played extremely well at both ends of the floor,” said Lions head coach Nadir Dalleh. “Gatesville has had a lot of COVID issues and they will be a lot better the next time around for sure. We have some things to get fixed because next week is huge playing at Stephenville and at Glen Rose. I’m very proud of our kids and hopefully we can keep it going.”
Tuesday’s win was the sixth straight for the Lions (10-6, 1-0), who led 24-12 after one quarter, 46-18 at halftime and 57-35 through three periods.
Leading the charge for Brownwood was Christian Kinzler with 19 points, Bryson Monroe with 18, Jakob Hataway and Zach Porter with eight apiece, Luke Moss and Michael Felts with six points each, Nathan Wheelington with two and Blake Brasher with two.
Gatesville received 16 points from Banner Allman.
