Lake Brownwood State Park posted the following information on Facebook regarding its free New Year’s First Day Hikes on Friday:
Join us for a tradition around the nation as we hike on New Years Day! These hikes will be self-guided. Simply check in a headquarters to get recommendations on a trail, take your hike between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., and let us know at headquarters when you are finished for a First Day Hike sticker! Make sure to tag us on social media if you take pictures!
Not available in the afternoon? Check out our morning time slot instead!
This is free with park entrance. We encourage making a day pass reservation as capacity limits are still in place.
What to bring: hiking gear and water
Where to meet: stop by headquarters to let us know which trail you will hike!
