MERKEL – The Brownwood Lady Lions were denied in their bid for a third straight victory Tuesday, as they dropped a neutral court decision to Midland Greenwood, 41-20.
Brownwood – coming off wins over Goldthwaite and Cisco – trailed Greenwood 9-5 after one quarter, 20-9 at halftime, and 30-12 through three periods.
The Lady Lions converted just 5 of 32 shots (16 percent), missing all 12 three-point attempts, while sinking 10 of 16 free throws (63 percent). Brownwood also committed 35 turnovers and distributed only three assists, while snatching 12 steals and pulling down 28 rebounds.
Brooke Price and Naysa Leach led Brownwood with five points apiece, Kynslee Walker and Jaylen Savage chipped in four apiece, and Tessa Goodwin added two points.
Karsyn Payton paced Greenwood (2-5) with 15 points.
The Lady Lions (5-7) are back in action at 3:30 p.m. Friday as they host Abilene Wylie.
