GOLDTHWAITE – The Brownwood Lady Lions returned to the win column Friday night, snapping a four-game skid with a 48-35 victory at Goldthwaite.

“I was proud of the team effort throughout the whole game,” said Lady Lions head coach Heather Hohertz. “We pressured more to try and get our offense going, and we shot the ball a lot better, but we still have a ways to go.”

The Lady Lions led 17-7 after one quarter, 33-17 at halftime and 40-20 through three quarters.

Brownwood shot 36 percent (18 of 50) from the floor, which included five three-pointers, and 87 percent (7 of 8) at the free throw line. The Lady Lions also committed just 14 turnovers, recorded 12 steals, dished out 11 assists and grabbed 24 rebounds.

Tessa Goodwin led the charge offensively with 14 points followed by Brooke Price and Alexa Arreola with 10 apiece, Naysa Leach with nine, Mady Pyle with three and Lindsey Larose with two points.

Goldthwaite received eight points from Taylor Rountree, seven from Logyn Rountree, six each from Emma Grebe and Jasmine Balencia, four from Britni Roberts and two points from Karleigh Bolt.

Brownwood (4-6) hosts Class 2A No. 10 Cisco at 2:15 p.m. Saturday.
