SAN SABA – For the fourth consecutive game, the Brownwood Lady Lions came out on the short end of the scoreboard, falling at Class 2A No. 5 San Saba, 38-22, Tuesday night.
The Lady Lions (3-6) trailed San Saba (9-0) by a 13-4 count after one quarter, 20-14 at halftime, and 28-16 through three periods.
Brownwood shot converted 8 of 38 (21 percent) shots from the floor, including 2 of 22 (9 percent) from three-point land, with 24 turnovers. The Lady Lions knocked down 50 percent (4 of 8) of their free throws, and recorded 30 rebounds along with 14 steals.
Tessa Goodwin finished with a team-high eight points for Brownwood, trailed by Brooke Price with five, Alexa Arreola and CarolAnn Hetzel with three apiece, Mady Pyle with two and Lindsey Larue with one point.
Courtnee Cash led San Saba with 16 points followed by Landri Glover with 10.
The Lady Lions return to action at 6:15 p.m. Friday at Goldthwaite.
