Brownwood News – A new shelter has been constructed in front of the Senior Citizens Center on Greenleaf Street. The Center provides lunches to area senior citizens, but has had to change to curbside take-out service only, because of the COVID pandemic. The shelter helps on rainy days and provides shade on hot, sunny days.
All senior citizens in the area are eligible for the lunches, but you must call first and sign up for the service. The Center typically serves between 140 and 170 lunches per day. A donation of $2 per meal is suggested, but not required. Delivery service is available for homebound seniors.
The meals can be picked up in front of the Brownwood Senior Citizens Center on Greenleaf Street, adjacent to the Brownwood Coliseum. To sign up for the meals, or for more information, call 325-646-0559.
