FREDERICKSBURG – Playing their second road contest of the season against their first Class 4A foe, the Brownwood Lady Lions suffered a 63-26 loss at the hands of Fredericksburg Friday night.
Brownwood trailed 12-6 after one quarter, 26-11 at halftime and 40-17 through three frames.
The Lady Lions shot 31 percent (9 of 29) from the floor, including 33 percent (3 of 9) on three-pointers, and converted 55 percent (5 of 9) of their free throws. Brownwood also recorded 23 rebounds and 14 steals, but committed 37 turnovers.
CarolAnn Hetzel led Brownwood with eight points followed by Naysa Leach with five, Tessa Goodwin with four, Mady Pyle with three, and Kynslee Walker, Jaylen Savage and Brooke Price with two points apiece.
The Lady Lions (1-1) are back in action at 6 p.m. Tuesday as they host first-year Class 4A program Lake Belton in the home opener.
