Eleven members of the bi-district champion Brownwood Lady Lions volleyball team earned all-district accolades from the coaches of 6-4A, which were revealed Monday.
The Lady Lions picked up one superlative honor as junior Kylie Morris was tabbed the server of the year. Morris recorded 20 aces in district play and added 52 kills and 49 digs.
Landing on the first team were senior Katelyn Windham and junior Olivia Fowler. Windham led Brownwood with 78 kills in district, while Fowler chipped in 77 kills, 73 digs and 19 aces in league action.
Second-team selections included senior Caitlyn Moody and juniors Tessa Goodwin and Jaylen Savage.
Moody led District 6-4A with 196 digs in eight matches, Goodwin finished league play with a district-high 228 assists to go along with 79 digs, 35 kills and 16 aces, and Savage tallied a team-high 15 blocks and 35 kills.
Receiving honorable mention for the Lady Lions were Ashlyn Storm, Gracie Boswell, Becca Church, Kylie Wooten and Kassidy Wooten.
“I’m so proud of our entire program,” said Lady Lions second-year head coach Allison Smith, who guided Brownwood to a 12-9 record and second-place district finish. “We have a great group of girls, middle school included, and I cannot wait to see the future of our program. The 2020 season will always be one I cherish close to my heart. The seniors set a new tone to our program and hopefully we will build off of that.”
Other superlative award winners in 6-4A included MVP Landri Withers of Stephenville, Offensive Player of the Year Alee McClendon of Stephenville, Defensive Player of the Year Cali Carter of Stephenville, Setter of the Year Jaylee Matthews of Stephenville, Blocker of the Year Alexis Mims of Glen Rose, Newcomer of the Year Aimee Flippen of Glen Rose, and Coach of the Year Shay Douglas of Stephenville.
The rest of the first-team selections included Tasha Toms of Gatesville, Kennedy Coffee of Stephenvile, Kourtnee Matthew of Gatesville, Jaydi Griddin of Stephenville, Camdyn Hinton of Glen Rose, Emma Lozier of Glen Rose and Emma Giddings of Stephenville.
Rounding out the second team were Madelyn Moore of Gatesville, Bailey Kammerer of Stephenville, and Glen Rose’s Abby Stephenson, Ava Sehnert and Mattison Young.
