WALL – Despite holding the Wall Hawks to their third-lowest scoring output of the season, the Early Longhorns were unable to put together enough offense to pull off an upset Friday night.

The Longhorns dropped a 19-7 decision in the regular season finale, but are still playoff bound as the fourth seed out of District 3-3A Division I. Awaiting Early in the first round of the playoffs will be District 4-3A Division I champion Brock, the No. 2 team in the state according to Harris Ratings Weekly.

Early (5-5, 2-3) finished with 224 yards – 183 passing and 41 rushing – against the Wall (7-3, 4-1) defense, but reached the end zone just once and committed a pair of turnovers.

Quarterback Jaxyn Price completed 8 of 15 passes for 129 yards with one interception, but rushed for Early’s lone touchdown despite tallying 1 yard on the ground on 7 carries.

John-Stewart Gordon added a 54-yard completion on his lone pass attempt while also leading Early with four receptions for 62 yards.

Rylie Hill added two catches for 39 yards, Hayden Schroeder caught a 54-yard pass, Caleb McCullough pulled down a 22-yard reception and Tyson Tyler grabbed a 6-yard catch.

On the ground, Tre Beam rushed for 27 yards on 9 carries and Alex Jacobs racked up 13 yards on 12 rushes.

Wall produced 304 yards, with 257 coming on the ground, and overcame four turnovers including three fumbles. The Hawks led 6-0 after one quarter, 12-0 at halftime and 19-0 through three periods.

Dominic Garcia rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown, Chase Rios added 71 yards and quarterback Gabe Haskins tacked on 54 yards with a trip to the end zone.
