“Brownwood ISD was honored to partner with Chick-fil-A to give 100 BISD employees free Chick-fil-A meals for a year,” said BISD Superintendent, Dr. Young. “BISD provided the list of employees from which Chick-fil-A randomly chose winners to be a part of their ‘First 100’ program at their new store.”
Chick-fil-A Brownwood owners delivered 100 gift cards to BISD Central Support Center on Monday, November 2, 2020.
Dr. Young led the way, joined by BISD Deputy Superintendent, Liesa Land, and Assistant Superintendent of Business and Finance, Mitch Moore, as they surprised BISD teachers and staff throughout the district Monday delivering the good news of free Chick-fil-A chicken to the lucky 100.
Chick-fil-A Brownwood is locally-owned and operated by Bridget Jones, a Brownwood native whose family has lived in the area for generations. Before opening her own Chick-fil-A restaurant, she served as Restaurant Director at two restaurants outside of Austin. Prior to starting her career with Chick-fil-A, Jones taught elementary and middle school in the Austin area, where she was named a Rising Star Teacher of the Year, and also owned and operated a Just Between Friends franchise location, for which she was awarded Franchise of the Year. Jones graduated locally from Brownwood High School and earned her college degree from Howard Payne University. She and her husband, Jonathan, who she met locally at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church, returned home to Brownwood earlier this year, along with their two children.
“Serving the Brownwood community means so much to my family, and we are excited to give back to the community that made us who we are. The local saying goes, ‘Brownwood Feels Like Home,’ but for us, Brownwood really is home,” said Jones. “We look forward to becoming a community hub and a premier employer in Brownwood, where people can enjoy good food in a welcoming environment.”
From jumping up and down in the hallways to cheers, smiles, and hugs (masked of course), staff throughout the district were energized to receive the surprise gift. “Ms. Bridget Jones is a Brownwood High graduate who made it possible to honor our education heroes,” noted Dr. Young. “We wish to thank her and Chick-fil-A for joining the strong group of community partners who support our students and staff. We appreciate you and welcome Chick-fil-A to Brownwood ISD, your district of choice!”
