Kristi Louise (Daniel) Thomas, 51, of Bangs passed away Sunday, October 4, 2020. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Heartland Funeral Home from 2:00 – 4:00 PM, Saturday, October 10, 2020.
Kristi was an easy-going, laid back woman that everyone knew, simply because she didn’t know a stranger. She loved a good slow country waltz, knocking back a cold one with friends, and the slow pace of rural living. Her youth was spent playing softball, rodeoing, and generally raising hell. She found solace and steady ground after the birth of her two girls. Kristi raised her daughters to be independent and proud women, with her leading by example. She would always say, ” You better never start a fight, but you better always finish it!”, and if you had the means, you help – no matter the situation. This is a motto both daughters will always carry with them and pass on to their own children. Kristi’s world consisted of supporting her daughters. Whether it was through her eldest daughter’s academic achievements or supporting and sharing similar interests with her youngest such as softball games, rodeos, and youth fairs, she was there to cheer them on and be heard above the crowd… sometimes to their embarrassment! She was always the life of the party and the loudest voice in the room. Known for her down to earth and sometimes inappropriate humor, you could never quite predict what she had to say. Her working life revolved around law enforcement. She spent the majority of her life serving as both officer and dispatcher, and was never seen without sporting some Thin Blue Line article. She was also an avid supporter of the US Military, and took pride in the fact that her son-in-law, her younger daughter’s husband, currently serves as a United States Marine. Her most recent pride and joy was her granddaughter, who quickly replaced everyone else as her favorite. Even on bad days, she found reason to laugh and love life because of the cheer and warmth that her granddaughter shared with her. They had more silly jokes and inside stories than anyone could count. She will be surely missed, and the world has gotten a little dimmer without her crazy, free-spirited self, but we know one thing… Heaven didn’t gain a sweet, tranquil angel. Instead, they got an outspoken, big-hearted, happy-go-lucky soul that will remind them how to keep having fun! We know she’s causing an uproar in the best of ways, and will have a cold beer for the rest of us when we join her.
Kristi is survived by her mother, Janet Higginbotham of Bangs, daughter, Kasey Yoshida of Bangs and Kember Kunkel and husband Tyler of Camp Pendleton, CA; sister’s Kathy and husband Tommy Drisdale & Kam and husband Robert Gibson all of Denton; brother, Blane Daniel and wife, Patti of Bangs and a granddaughter, Ryleigh Yoshida of Bangs.
Kristi was preceded in death by her father, Troy Daniel; and a brother, Britt Daniel.
