James Mack Rickels, age 74, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2020, in Abilene, Texas.
He was born April 22, 1946, in Raton, New Mexico, to Elliott and Mildred (Osborne) Rickels. James was a United States Army Veteran. On January 30, 1982, he was united in marriage to Donna Sue Spivey in Graham, Texas. She preceded him in death on October 28, 2007. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. James was a Dairy Nutritionist. He was a member of Zephyr Baptist Church.
He is survived by his son, Ryan Rickels; daughter, Shannon Coleman and husband, Jeff; stepsons, Doug Bryant and wife Lindy, and Jay Ross Bryant; grandchildren, Ramzy Coleman, Reaghen Bailey and husband Jackson, Rylan Coleman, Jason Rickels, Hadlee Bryant, Jaxon Ross and Sofee Bryant; great-grandchildren, Eliot Bailey and Judah Bailey; brother, Bud Rickels and wife Edith; sisters, Joyce Cheatwood and Betty Rickels; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elliott and Mildred Rickels; son, Jason Rickels; brother, David Rickels; and sisters, Marie Rickels, Laura Kay Rickels, and Kathy Rickels
Family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
Graveside service will be at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, October 1, 2020, at Rickels Family Ranch with Rev. Gary Ward officiating. Burial will be in Board Church Cemetery in Comanche County.
