Davis-Morris Funeral Home will host its fourth annual First Responders Appreciation Lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11 at 800 Center Avenue in Brownwood, the site of Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
The origin of the event was, “in memoriam of the 9/11 event and to recognize the hard work that our law enforcement, fire departments and EMS do,” said Benny Allcorn of Davis-Morris Funeral Home. “This year, with all the wildfires going on, it’s important we recognize all the hard work that they’ve done and recognize them for their service.”
Since its inception, the event has continued to grow year after year.
“We’ve had a real good response the last couple of years,” Allcorn said. “Last year was well attended by all the departments and first responders in the county.”
Davis-Morris Funeral Home is grateful for the opportunity to give back to first respondeers and the community with the annual event.
“As a company one of our main goals is recognizing services that others do,” Allcorn said. “Th is is just a way for us to show and appreciate the service that other people do for the community as well. Being in the funeral business, our number one priority is service and we also recognize the service the first responders do. The main thing we want to do is give back to the community and recognize those that also serve others 24 hours a day, 7 days a week without hesitation.”
