SNYDER – The Brownwood Lady Lions volleyball team chalked up another early-season victory Friday, notching a straight-set road win over the Snyder Lady Tigers, 25-23, 25-14, 25-19.
“We came together after a long trip and, facing some adversity, pulled it off and got a good win tonight,” said Lady Lions second-year head coach Allison Smith, whose team won its fifth match in six outings. “Everyone on the court was a leader for us. Olivia Fowler had a great serving game and our defense got us going.”
Jaylen Savage recorded a team-high 10 kills followed by Tessa Goodwin with nine, Fowler with six, Katelyn Windham and Ashlyn Storm with four apiece, and Becca Church with a pair.
Ashlyn Harris notched 19 assists, Goodwin dished out 12 and Church and Caitlyn Moody added one apiece.
Windham served four aces trailed by Fowler with three, while Savage, Goodwin and Gracie Boswell contributed one apiece.
Defensively, Moody logged 18 digs followed by Boswell with 10, Fowler with eight, Goodwin with five, and Harris, Church and Savage collected two each.
At the net, Storm recorded five blocks, Savage added three and Goodwin chipped in one.
Brownwood (5-1) is back in action at 6 p.m. Tuesday as Godley visits Warren Gym.
