Ambers Melvin Qualls Jr., 69 of Brownwood, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2020. A visitation will be held at the Heartland Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 and the Funeral service will be in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 26, 2020 with interment at Rocky Creek Cemetery in Brownwood, Texas.

Ambers was born February 23, 1951 in Brownwood to Ambers Sr. and Flossie Mae Qualls. He attended Brownwood little flame school and was one of the most social persons in the community. Melvin enjoyed his work family at JCI and got very upset that Covid-19 caused them to stop letting him work and be sociable. He was ready to go back to work every day. Red Wagon was his #1 spot. He loved going and visiting with the community there and considered everyone his friend. He greeted everyone with a smile. It depended on when you met Ambers if you knew him as Ambers or by his middle name Melvin. He just changed it one day and nobody really knows why. Ambers got very excited when he got to see one of his best friends, Dr. Steve Oines M.D. Dr. Oines always put him in a laughing/happy mood. Ambers loved seeing his family at gatherings and would always say “I love you” before leaving or letting you get out the door. Every night before bed he would let everyone know that he loved them. He made sure of that.

Ambers is survived by a sister, Juanelle Carlisle of Brownwood; sister-in-law, Linda Gober of Brownwood; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; favorite Doctor of all time and good friend, Steve Oines along with his church family at Haven of Hope.

Ambers was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Leona Faye Reynolds; and brother, John Wayne Gober.

Online condolences, tributes and memorials can be shared with the family at www.heartlandfuneralhome.net.
