Brown County Fair Association prepping for 2021 Youth Fair

The Brownwood County Fair Association is pressing forward as the 2021 Youth Fair is slated for Jan. 10-16. The premium sale will conclude the week’s activities at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16.

Members of the Fair Association are doing all they can to ensure another great show season while creating back up plans to meet COVID-19 concerns and recommendations. The goal is to keep the participants, volunteers and community safe while providing a great educational opportunity for local youth.

With the lack of a Brown County Rodeo this summer due to COVID concerns, a few fundraising events are on the horizon with proceeds going toward the Youth Fair.

“We’re going to have team roping on Sept. 19 and Sonny Pate is the lead on that,” said Ann Glasscock of the Brown County Fair Association during an interview with KOXE. “I understand it’s going to be a 12 flight with a progressive after one. Entry is $50 per man, you enter one and draw two.”

Also, “Shoot for the Cause” is a new event tentatively slated for Oct. 10 at the Brownwood Claybird Club at 5875 County Road 225. Brian Senkirik is heading up that fundraiser. Entry fee is $150 per shooter or $500 per team. Prizes will be awarded to the best team and individual. Raffle tickets will also be available and the Fair Association is working on gun donations and lane sponsors at this time.

Validation dates are also approaching beginning with lambs and goats Oct. 17 followed by swine Nov. 14 and horses Nov. 15. The final entry card date is Nov. 23.

The Brown County Fair Association Jackpot for market animals – sheep, goals, steers, heifers and pigs – will take place Oct. 31, Nov. 1, Nov. 7 and Nov. 8. The entry fee is $25.

And the Royalty Contests are coming soon as well. The Queen contest kicks off in early October, and Princess and Junior Miss follow in early November.
