Brownwood News – The Brown County Commissioners Court met this morning, County Judge Paul Lilly presiding. All four Commissioners Gary Worley, Joel Kelton, Wayne Shaw, and Larry Traweek were present.
In the only major business taken, Commissioners voted 5-0 to accept a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation. The grant, from the County Transportation Infrastructure Grant Program, is for a total of $206,048. TXDOT provides 80% of the grant, or $164,839, while Brown County is responsible for 20%, or $41,209. The County’s portion can be partially funded with “in-kind” value, such as labor and equipment, so the 20% responsibility by the County will not be all cash.
The grant money will be used for road construction and maintenance, and allocated this way: 50% in Precinct 3, 25% in Precinct 2, and 25% in Precinct 4. The grant proposal was presented by Grants Coordinator Bob Contreras.
