Editor’s Note: This is the fourth in a series of stories highlighting the new members of the Brownwood coaching staff for the 2020-21 school year. The series will resume Monday.

Megan Cisneroz, a 2008 graduate of San Saba High School and 2014 graduate of Angelo State University, is one of the new members of the coaching staff at Brownwood Middle School.

“Brownwood has such a great tradition, a great program, I wanted to be part of a great environment,” Cisneroz said.

Cisneroz played basketball and golf and ran cross country at San Saba. She went on to play golf at Angelo State and graduated in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology.

After graduation, Cisneroz taught at an intermediate school in San Angelo as well as San Saba Elementary School. She will be involved with all sports at Brownwood Middle School.

As for diving into the coaching world, Cisnernoz said, “I can’t wait to build up the programs and really learn from these ladies. You kind of get a sense of euphoria when you walk in here and see all the great players around and walk on the grass that they’ve walked on and you get to learn from such good coaches.”

Cisneroz considers coaching the best way to stay connected to the sports she once loved to play competitively.

“I love to help kids learn, grow and be lifelong learners in athletics,” Cisneroz said. “When you can’t be a part of the game yourself, you have to find another way to be in there and I think this is my way to get in there and help kids and be part of a good program.”

As for the influence Cisneroz hopes to have on the student-athetes, she said, “I want to have a positive impact, both mentally and physically. I want kids to see the mental side of athletics and how you can focus your mind in a positive way and how that can feed into what you’re trying to accomplish.”
