Sheffield’s 10U Glory softball team from Brownwood played in the state tournament this past weekend. They showed up in a big way with stellar performances to earn a second place finish in the Gold Bracket.
After losing their first bracket game, Glory responded Saturday night winning the next two bracket games and beginning the long journey in the losers bracket. Sunday morning they started out by knocking off the No. 1 seed 4-1 and advanced to the championship. In the first game, Glory won 11-2 and had to play an “if” game. Glory took home a second place finish in the Gold Division losing 7-6 in extra innings.
Head Coach Amanda Sheffield said “I am beyond proud! They played their hearts out and made all of us Glory proud. Clutch hits and plays all weekend. The girls rallied and showed grit all weekend to earn a spot in the championship game. They took the championship series to two games and lost 7-6 in extra innings, one run shy of the title. Way to go glory 10U on earning a silver ring at the state tournament!”
