Brownwood News – More than 11,000 acres, spread over several area fires, have burned so far this week in Brown or nearby counties. With temperatures soaring to 107 to 111 degrees Tuesday, most area volunteer fire departments were stretched to the limit battling the blazes. The Texas A&M Forest Service has joined the battle along with dozers and water haulers from various precinct county commissioners across the region.
