S.A. “Fletch” was born August 5, 1922 to William and Pauline Fletcher in Homer, Louisiana. They moved to Oklahoma and finally landed in Comanche. Fletch finished school in Comanche and joined the US Army serving in the Army Air Corps. He worked for Texas in the oil production side as a foreman for about 35 years before retiring. Fletch enjoyed fishing, camping and dancing. He loved his family and was a dear friend. He liked to tell stories about his kids and his time in the military. He loved his wife, Wanda to the fullest. He called her his “world”. He was a great provider, hard worker that was very intent on living life to the fullest. He always had a joke to tell or a story to tell about working for the Texaco company. He loved being a Mason and enjoyed helping wherever he could with them. He was in the oriental band with the Shriners. He just enjoyed life! He was my loving husband, best friend, partner, lover, and caretaker. The most honorable man I ever knew.
Fletch is survived by his beloved wife, Wanda Fletcher of Brownwood; brother, Morris “Glendale” Fletcher; sons, Sam and wife Louis Fletcher of Houston, Don and wife Janice Fletcher of Corpus Christi, and Jerry and wife Dolly Fletcher of Lubbock; step-son Jimmy and wife Lori Chancellor of Brownwood; 15 grandchildren and many great grandchildren, nephews, nieces and friends.
Fletch was preceded in death by his step daughter, Vicky Bishop; step son, Richard Chancellor; brother, Robert Fletcher.
