Brownwood News – The Goldthwaite Fire Department reported this evening they are battling a large grass fire on FM 45. Several other area fire departments have responded to assist. Initial reports we’ve received are that the fire is near the Brown/Mills county line. Numerous fire fighting resources have and are responding as of 8:30 pm. The Texas A&M Forest Service is also responding to a request for assistance as of 8:35 pm. The fire is named the Buffalo Creek Fire, estimated at 200 acres and 0% contained, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service. Smoke is also seen on County Road 192 south of Bangs. We are told several fire departments are working to control that fire.
