Brownwood News – The Texas Juvenile Justice Department provided the following updates Thursday, July 9, related to COVID-19:
• 3 Youth Development Coaches and 1 staff member at the Ron Jackson State Juvenile Correctional Complex, in Brownwood, tested positive for COVID-19.
• 8 youth at the Giddings State School tested positive for COVID-19 this afternoon.
• 2 Youth Development Coaches tested positive for COVID-19 at TJJD halfway houses. The total number of staff at halfway houses who have tested positive since the start of the pandemic is thirteen.
• 1 Youth Development Coach at the Gainesville State School tested positive for COVID-19.
• 1 Youth Development Coach at the McLennan County State Juvenile Correctional Facility, in Mart, tested positive for COVID-19.
• 3 Youth Development Coaches at the Evins Regional Juvenile Center, in Edinburg, tested positive for COVID-19.
• 1 staff member at the Giddings State School tested positive for COVID-19.
• Campus-wide testing at the Evins Regional Juvenile Center ended today. Results are expected back within 48 to 72 hours after being received at the lab.
Since the start of the pandemic, 93 staff members at the agency’s secure facilities have tested positive for COVID-19:

Gainesville State School: 5
Giddings State School: 34
McLennan County State Juvenile Correctional Facility: 3
Ron Jackson State Juvenile Correctional Complex: 11
Since the start of the pandemic, 106 youth at the agency’s secure facilities have tested positive for COVID-19:
Evins Regional Juvenile Center: 17
Gainesville State School: 13
Giddings State School: 72
McLennan County State Juvenile Correctional Facility: 2
Ron Jackson State Juvenile Correctional Complex: 2
