Marilyn Ann (Perry) Goodson, age 74, of Bangs passed away on Monday, June 8, at Oakridge Manor in Brownwood.
She was born on July 12, 1945 in San Angelo the daughter of R. A. Perry and Marie (Stewart) Perry. She had lived most of her life in Bangs where she attended school. She was a lifelong Christian and was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Brownwood. She retired from the Texas Youth Commission after working for 27 years. She also felt very honored to have served on the board of the Disability Commission of Texas for several years.
She loved nature, sunsets, bird watching especially hummingbirds, working puzzles and visiting with friends. Severe Rheumatoid arthritis kept Marilyn from doing the things she wanted to do, however, she and her husband James of thirty-three years enjoyed the blessings they shared together each day including their involvement with the Walk to Emmaus Community and Community gatherings.
She is survived by her son, Victor Allan Low of Bangs, her brother Robert Perry and wife Patricia of Jacksonville, Texas, nieces and nephews Stacy, Brent, and David Perry, numerous cousins, and several other family members and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and an infant son, David Duane Drury.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 am on Friday, June 12 at the Bangs Cemetery with Rev. Carol Roberts of Central United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 PM on Thursday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
It was her wish that memorials be made to the Corinne T. Smith Animal Shelter or to Central United Methodist Church.
