Bob Thornhill, 84, of May, Texas passed away on April 14, 2020.
Bob was born in Porum, Oklahoma on January 22, 1936 as the 8th of 10 children. He married his soulmate Shannon Taylor Thornhill on May 21, 1953. They recently celebrated 67 years of marriage. Bob and Shannon spent time in Arizona and California before making their home in Texas in 1967.
Bob was known for being a hard worker and supported his family by many careers. He earned a Degree in Master Carpentry while in Ventura, CA. He worked as a carpenter and superintendent building track homes, owner of a gas station, spent time as a farmer, and finally settled into the trucking business where he has spent the last 50 years as the owner and operator of a successful local trucking company. He was Master Mason of the May Masonic Lodge #574, a 32 Degree Scottish Rite, and a Suez Shriners.
Bob is survived by his wife, Shannon Thornhill, 4 children Michael Thornhill and wife Mary, Tim Thornhill and wife Doris, Bobby Thornhill and wife Jeanne, and Carla Williams and husband David; 14 grandchildren; Michael J. Thornhill, Michelle Kiser and husband Beau, Sharla Littlefield, Marshall Thornhill, Stephan Thornhill, Kristen Blear and husband Eric, Ashley Crawford and husband Rusty, Tel Williams and wife Kourtney, Dal Williams, Kendall LeMay and husband Clint, Justin Thornhill and wife Laura, Jamie Tabor and husband Tyler, Taylor Thornhill and wife Lynsey, Cooper Thornhill and wife Kim; 25 great-grandchildren with one on the way; and 1 great-great grandchild and one on the way; numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents William R and Maude Mae Thornhill; siblings Glen, Ray, George, Billy, R.L., Arlie, Virginia and Opal and one grandson Michael Joseph Thornhill.
He was a proud supporter of his community and avid volunteer. Bob is loved by all that knew him and will be dearly missed.
Due to current social distancing requirements, a celebration of life will be scheduled at a future date.
