Brownwood News – A one-vehicle accident early Monday morning sent five people to the hospital.
According to the Department of Public Safety on scene, the wreck was reported at 7:29 am and was located on Highway 183/84, a few miles south of Early.
The preliminary report from the DPS is a white SUV was traveling south toward Zephyr in the left lane following a vehicle that was going to try and make a left turn. The driver of the SUV veered to the right to avoid the other vehicle. The SUV went through a guard rail and rolled multiple times, coming to rest on the driver’s side on the west side of the highway.
There were five people in the vehicle, two of them ejected, according to DPS.
The driver was taken from the scene by Air-Evac helicopter and was being taken to Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo. The others were taken by ambulance to Brownwood Regional Medical Center. Names of those involved were not released.
The crash remains under investigation by the Department of Public Safety.
