On Saturday, February 1, 2020, Donald Wayne Hobbs, age 76, left this world to be with his Heavenly Father. While he has left a large family of loved ones behind, we are all more than certain he is celebrating his return home and are happy that he has finally been restored to the man he wished for so long he could be again.
He will be remembered for his long hugs, his larger than life presence, his unmatched wit, his passion for all things baseball, specifically Texas Rangers baseball, the love he had for his family, and the special “I love you” sign that he showed whenever he left. We know he has the best seat in the house, and that he will be saving a spot for all of us.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa Hobbs of Comanche; his three sons, Jerry and wife Jennifer of Glen Rose, Wesley and wife Gail of Gatesville, Clarence and wife Libby of Brownwood; two daughters, Donna Flores and husband William of Lubbock, and Jamie Chance of Brownwood; two brothers, T.J. and wife Bitsy of May, Texas, John and wife Linda, of Tempe, Arizona; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and countless cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Ray Hobbs and Zelia Ford (Cole) Hobbs; a daughter, Milinda Sue Weldon; and two grandchildren, Amanda Lachelle Baker and Casey Ray Eberling.
A Celebration of Life for Don will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2020, at North Lake Community Church (3131 Harbor Dr. May, Texas 76857) with Pastor Ron Keener officiating; interment will be private at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.
