Johnny Wayne Shelton age 69, of Brownwood, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2020.
Visitation will be 6 – 7 pm, Friday, January 31 at Heartland Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 1, both at Heartland Funeral Home Chapel, 303 Early Blvd, Early, TX.
He was born Saturday, March 4, 1950, in Hope, Arkansas. Johnny enlisted in the Marines on March 1, 1968 and served in Vietnam until 1970. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnamese Service Medal, and the Vietnamese Campaign Medal. He also received the Good Conduct Medal. Johnny’s family moved to Brownwood when he was a child and he lived and worked in the region as a carpenter and framer. Johnny was an admired and respected friend and a loved and cherished father, grandfather and uncle. His legacy lives on in the lives of his many friends, comrades and family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clive Meredith Shelton and Effie Pearl Springfield.
Johnny is survived by his brother, Clive Donald Shelton of Hope Arkansas, sister, Linda Smith and husband Wayne Smith of Hope Arkansas, daughter Tobe Bako-Pollard and husband Jeff Pollard of Las Vegas, daughter Felicia Robertson and husband Michael Robertson of Brownwood, son Jacob Shelton of Los Angeles, step-son Brandon Atkins of Brownwood, grandsons Brian Bako, Kyle Bako, Shane Bako of Las Vegas, Chevy Robertson of Brownwood; and many nieces and nephews.
