Brownwood News – Deputies of the Brown County Sheriff’s Department have responded to the following calls for service in recent days.
On Monday, January 6, Lt. Pete Bastardo met with a man in regards to illegal dumping. It was discovered another man had dumped some brush onto the complainant’s lake lot at Bounding Maine. A report was generated for illegal dumping. A Criminal Trespass Warning was also issued to the suspect.
On Monday, January 6, Lt. Pete Bastardo met with a man in regards to wanting a Trespass Warning issued to the same man as shown in the above report. The man was located and issued a Trespass Warning for lake lots on Bounding Maine.

On Tuesday, January 7, at about 19:11 hours, Deputy Simpson was traveling southbound in the inside lane in the 8300 block of Highway 279 when he noticed a vehicle that appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed. Deputy Simpson checked the speed of the car which was 90 mph in a 50 mph zone. A traffic stop was made on the vehicle. The male driver had a suspended driver’s license. The vehicle registration was expired in June 2017 and he had no liability insurance. The man was arrested for Class B Misdemeanor Driving While License Invalid, Class C Misdemeanor No Liability Insurance and Class C Misdemeanor Displaying Expired Registration. He was taken to the Brown County Sheriff’s Office.
On January 7, Deputy Ashley Harris and Deputy Taylor Fletcher performed a traffic stop on a black Ford pickup. The male driver was arrested on warrants. The female passenger was arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance in a Drug Free Zone and Tamper/Fabricate Physical Evidence after she attempted to discard a baggie of Methamphetamine weighing 0.9 grams with packaging.
On December 17, the homeowners at Ranch Hand Lane witnessed a brown, single cab pickup dump a refrigerator on their property. A report was made.
On December 26, a deceased pig with a state validated ear tag and a County Validated ear tag was located on FM 2632. A report was made.
On January 1, at approximately 00:13, Deputy Jose Rodriguez, responded to CR 337. This was in regards to a weapons offense. A report was made.
On January 1, Deputy Mason Fabbiani took a report of an Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle from an address on County Road 294. Deputy was notified that a man took his grandparent’s vehicle and was possibly en-route to Austin. A report has been made.
On January 3, Deputy Mason Fabbiani performed a traffic stop on a pickup in front of Wal-Mart. He was notified a passenger in the vehicle had warrants. That passenger was placed in custody. A small baggie was located on him with methamphetamine residue. A search of the vehicle was conducted which more methamphetamine was located. All three subjects denied the meth and all three subjects were placed in custody. A report has been taken.
On January 5, Deputy Toby Mathis, along with Cpl. Hopson responded to Highway 183 North for a report of a Domestic Disturbance. The male victim left prior to deputies arriving. He was contacted by phone. Information was gathered and a report was made.
On January 5, Deputy Toby Mathis, along with other deputies, responded to a block of Lakeshore Drive. This was for a report of aggravated assault involving a firearm. Two men reported being assaulted by another man. Deputies were unable to locate the suspect. Information was gathered from the victims for a report. The incident is still under investigation.
On January 6, Deputy Ashley Harris responded to a call for Criminal Mischief and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle at FM 1689 in May, Texas. A report was made.
On January 6, at about 16:18 hours, Deputy Byron Langley arrived at the Brownwood Law Enforcement Center at 1050 W. Commerce. This was in regards to a trespass warning. He spoke to a woman who stated she wanted a Trespass Warning issued against a man for her property on Highway 67/84 in Brownwood.
On January 6, a woman requested a Trespass Warning against her ex-boyfriend. A report was made on Reagor Lane in Early, Texas.
On January 6, a request for a Criminal Trespass Warning was made from Navaho Drive in May, Texas.
On January 6, Deputy Mason Fabbiani was notified of a subject who had borrowed a vehicle and was now refusing to return the vehicle. The location was on Lewis Street in Brownwood. Contact was attempted with the man but neither he nor the vehicle was located. A report has been taken.
On January 6, Deputy Mason Fabbiani was dispatched to an address on Spring Hollow in Brownwood. This was in reference to a man walking into a residence without permission. The man was not supposed to be in the residence. A report has been taken.
On January 6, at about 19:59 hours, Deputy Simpson responded to Coggin Avenue. This was in regards to a female making claim of an assault, which occurred at FM 45. Upon arriving on scene, Deputy Simpson made contact with a woman who said a known man had stabbed her in the right index finger with a knife and burned her top lip with a lit cigarette approximately six to seven days ago. The woman was requesting help to get into The Ark for a place to stay. She was checked out by an MHMR caseworker and by Lifeguard EMS workers. The Ark advised, due to the circumstances, they would not take the woman. A report was made.
