Brownwood News – January is School Board Recognition Month, and Brownwood ISD will join 1,025 school districts throughout Texas to honor the countless contributions of these locally elected advocates for Texas schoolchildren and public schools.
“The men and women of our locally elected school board are volunteers who make difficult choices for our district and carry critical responsibilities,” said Brownwood ISD Superintendent, Dr. Joe Young. “They are focused on doing what is best for all students in Brownwood ISD. I am glad we set aside a month to say thanks for all they do!”
Serving as a link between the community and classroom, school board members are elected to establish the policies that provide the framework for public schools. Board members serving Brownwood ISD are: Michael Cloy (Board President), Roderick Jones, Sr. (Board Vice President), Dr. Lisa Fowler (Board Secretary), Tim Jacobs (Parliamentarian), Diane Thompson, Codie Smith, and Eric Evans.
“Public education is important for our communities today and even more important for tomorrow. We must prepare students for the future, which we know little about, and this opportunity falls to us,” added Dr. Young. “I appreciate the leadership of our board and hope you’ll join me in recognizing them for their dedicated service.”
